A very rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Capital Projects Manager to join a leading firm based in Manchester. You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the Firm's capital programme, as well as lead responsibility for a specific project associated with the Birmingham office. You will provide professional estates and construction advice in the planning and prioritisation of the firm's capital programme, take responsibility for the briefing and management of external consultants and advisers involved in capital projects; ensure that all capital projects are delivered on time, to the required quality specifications and within the allocated budget; monitor the achievement of statutory compliance, health and safety and effective governance in the implementation of capital projects; advise the firm on estates/construction issues, and to provide professional advice on investment appraisal and option appraisals in relation to estates and property. You will also take specific responsibility for managing the firm's interests in a third party major project, adjacent to one of the regional offices. This will involve detailed and ongoing liaison with the third party developer to agree method statements and ensure these are adhered to in practice, as well as taking responsibility for the implementation of specific property and FM projects, as agreed with the Head of Strategy and/or Director of Property and Facilities.
We envisage that the successful candidate will possess at least 5 years experience managing a capital scheme in excess of £1 million for a large organisation, with a complex network of facilities. You will be able to demonstrate a track record of managing a capital programme for at least 3 years working for a sizeable construction company, delivering capital schemes to time, quality and budget, however we will accept applications from candidates of all levels of experience, who are able to demonstrate the necessary skills for this role. Successful candidates must be educated to degree level or equivalent with desirable Business qualification, e.g. MBA. You will ideally have Chartered status or significant progress towards membership of a relevant professional body. In addition, you will have experience of management of property and capital projects within the context of the Landlord and Tenant Act, possess excellent numerical ability, strong negotiation skills, and are an effective team player/manager.
